Sewing for angels…

African American AngelBesides designing and sewing a costume for Mary Magdalene and the resurrection robe for Jesus, I’ll be making two costumes for angels.

I found about the angels yesterday. I’m a bit excited about that since in my mind it gives me freedom to be elaborate with the costuming. They’re heavenly beings after all — I think they should be dazzling.

When I was five years old, I remember playing an angel in the school Christmas play. I only went to that school one year. At the time, it only went to first grade, and the following year they knocked off first grade and only had kindergarten. You want to know something wild?ย  My daughter attends the same school. Also, the Lutheran school is one of the ministries ofย  the Lutheran church. We now attend that Lutheran church.

Who knew 30+ years later that I’d be attending the church where I went to school… and designing costumes for one of their plays. ๐Ÿ˜‰

That is a gorgeous Angel picture/graphic! I was an Angel in one of my first Church Musicals, too! I was a Seraphim, actually! LOL I think that was the musical I had my first solo in too! I grew up in a Pentecostal Church! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks @Jennifer, I really loved this angel.. I think it’s the hair. It sort of reminds me of my own, although mine is longer — halfway down my back, and I wear my hair in dreadlocks. I was raised Baptist, but must say I really am loving my Lutheran church.

Currently, I can’t see myself going anywhere else. I love the customs and the “high church” traditions that accompany the “Heritage” aka “Traditional” service. They also have a “Celebration” service aka “Traditional” and last Saturday we added a Saturday night service. I say “We” since I’m very involved with the a lot that goes into the service.

I must say, working behind the scenes gives me a new appreciation for all the work that goes into making a service come together.
