A few days ago, I made curried lentil burgers (vegan.) I’d been craving a good veggie burger for a while and finally got around to making my own. I don’t purchase frozen veggie burgers. Personally, I don’t think they taste that great. Besides, I can make a much better veggie burger.
After I gathered all the ingredients needed, I mixed everything together.
I formed the ingredients into burger sized patties. Then, I put the patties on a tray and stuck them in the oven.
When making veggie burgers, I tend to bake them into the oven instead of cooking them in the skillet. I’ve found the end results is a much firmer “veggy burger.”

At the halfway mark I flipped the burgers.

My curried lentil burgers were an overwhelming success! I didn’t make more ranch fries to accompany this meal. In hindsight, perhaps I should have made pakoras (Indian spiced vegetable fritters.) Instead of frying them, I would have made a baked version.
But back to the curried lentil burgers. They were moist, high on flavor and low on calories. Which is how it should be. I must say, that these burgers were even popular with those who weren’t vegetarian/vegan; the burgers didn’t last long.
We have some things similar here too – one’s bergedil – some kind of potato croquettes…and the other is vadam, an Indian delicacy made from dhall beans. I do enjoy eating those.

@suituapui, I’ve had and made bergedil. I believe I’ve had the vadam also. One of my friends is from Madras, India. They visit yearly. His mother makes traditional Indian food. I must say, I like her version much better than the watered down variety you get at the Indian restaurants I’ve visited. I learned a lot about Indian cuisine from her. I asked a lot of questions and she answered them.

Yup! These look AWESOME! Yummers! I made one last night – and you have known my trials with making my own veggie burgers! LOL – The taste was good but they still fell apart. From now on I will take your advice and bake them. Thus far I have only tried them in a skillet! I’m thinking this is my problem! Thanks for the tip!!!!
I agree most store-bought veggie burgers either have no taste or not a good taste. The only ones I swoon over anymore are the Five Star ones I buy online! THOSE are sooooo good. It’s been a long time since I have had one tho! I’m starting to crave ’em!

@Jennifer, If you make your patties and stick them in the freezer for a few hours before cooking on the stovetop, they don’t fall apart as quickly. I much prefer baking them, they’re a bit healthier since your not using oil and the taste is still awesome.
