Spay Day

Yoki, my working-line German Shepherd, had her spay surgery today. I dropped her off at 7:00 a.m., and the vet called me at 11:30 a.m. to inform me that the surgery had gone well. When I picked Yoki up around 4:45, she was delighted to see me. Of course, she has to wear the cone of shame.

She’s still feeling the effects of the medication. She was subdued today. I hung out with her for several hours. She ate a small meal, is now wearing her cone, and is placed in her large kennel. I have the Impact dog crates; they are pricey but worth the investment and very roomy for sleeping and hanging out.

I wasn’t planning on spaying Yoki

I had no intention of spaying her. I read the pros and cons and was leaning towards not getting it done; however, she was a tad aggressive to our other dog when she went through her first heat cycle—something we’d never seen before. After that, we monitored their interactions, and I waited to see how she would react. During her next heat cycle, she still acted similarly, and so once she turned two years old, I scheduled her surgery.

Random Cuteness: Black German Shepherd Puppies

Black German Shepherd Puppies – Four Weeks Old

This picture was taken two weeks ago when the black German Shepherd puppies were four weeks old. The momma had eight puppies total; four girls and four boys. Aren’t they precious? They will be six weeks old tomorrow. It’s hard to believe I will get my sweet baby next month. Where has the time gone?

Earlier today, I purchased a 16″ MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip; it arrived by courier this afternoon. Last Saturday, I bought the Shark – AI Ultra Robot Vacuum RV2502AE with XL HEPA Self-Empty Base, LIDAR Navigation, and Wi-Fi Connected – Black. Over the past few months, I’ve purchased a few pricy items. I’m not an emotional buyer; I’d been sitting on these items for at least four years. So, it was finally time to make the purchases.

It’s a sunny day…

With the amount of rain that we’ve received the past few weeks, it’s nice to have a sunny day!

Earlier this morning, I took these photos of what we see outside our doorstop every single day.

We live on four acres.

It’s very quiet back here and I would not trade it for anything.

Of course photos would not be complete without a few shots of our fur critters.

Aren’t they adorable?

Furbaby adventures: Peekaboo Angel

This past Saturday, my daughter gave Angel the guinea pig a bath.

Angel peeking out of the snuggly soft blanket

Angel doesn’t get too many baths since she does a wonderful job grooming herself, but now and again even that isn’t enough. In the above photo you see her nestled in one of her favorite snuggly flannel blankets shortly after my daughter gave her a bath. Angel has lived a while. My daughter has had her since she was in the first grade; she’s now in the sixth grade.

Furbaby adventures: Bunny bonding; friends at last…

Our two rescued rabbits are doing very well. We’ve had them for several months now and can’t imagine our life without them. I will have to say that Oreo (netherland dwarf rabbit) our first rescue has made a lot of positive changes. Initially, I mentioned that she had not been socialized when I adopted her from the Humane Society of Harford County. She was over a year old, when we rescued her and really didn’t like to be held. Fast forward a few months and she grew to love the interaction.

But even though she loved interaction with us, she still wanted no parts of Gracie, our lionhead rabbit. Female rabbits can be very aggressive with other rabbits of the same sex. This means, it can take a long time before they’ve bonded and some times the bonding never happens. Although I was hoping for a positive outcome for both of them, I’d already accepted that friendship might not happen. We received Gracie, perhaps a month after we’d adopted Oreo. You can read about Gracies’s rescue here. Because of this, their time together was heavily supervised.

Those who’ve followed my site, remember the images I posted of Gracie,  shortly after she was attacked by Oreo. That encounter required laceration surgery, and back to square one we went with their bonding. After several months of restrictive bonding sessions, this is where we’re at now… Read More

So happy together…

Angel and Gracie are still the best friends. Oreo, our netherland dwarf rabbit, is slowly warming up to Gracie, but we’re still taking teeny tiny baby steps.

Angel and Gracie: Happy together

These photos were taken a few weeks ago.

Gracie giving Angel bunny kisses…

Angel valiantly tries to keep up with Gracie as Gracie hops about the room. But Angel’s short little stubby legs will only get her so far. Angel is left squealing at her friend, “Come back, come back!” Gracie, knowing that Angel is much slower, frequently pops back to console, snuggle and give Angel bunny kisses.

The Turtles: Happy Together

Imagine me and you, I do
I think about you day and night, it’s only right
To think about the girl you love
And hold her tight, so happy together

If I should call you up, invest a dime
And you say you belong to me and ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be, so very fine
So happy together

I can’t see me loving nobody
But you for all my life
When you’re with me, baby
The skies will be blue for all my life

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they tossed the dice, it had to be
The only one for me is you and you for me
So happy together

I can’t see me loving nobody
But you for all my life
When you’re with me, baby
The skies will be blue for all my life

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they tossed the dice, it had to be
The only one for me is you and you for me
So happy together

Me and you and you and me
No matter how they tossed the dice, it had to be
The only one for me is you and you for me
So happy together
So happy together

How is the weather
So happy together
We’re happy together
So happy together

So happy together
So happy together
So happy together
