Yesterday, I made another batch of my kombucha. Instead of just using the kombucha to coax out a SCOBY I added seven (7) cups of black tea and 1/2 cup of pure cane sugar. It’ll be interesting to see which batch does a better job of making a SCOBY.
I’ve included a picture of my first kombucha brew. This one is pure kombucha. Lord willing, this weekend, I’ll post a few more pictures and update the progress.
Cool! What kind of Pure Cane Sugar do you use?

@Jennifer, Domino’s organic cane sugar. From my reading the regular old sugar seems to work the best. After I’ve done a few batches and am comfortable, I will start playing around with other sweeteners.

@Opal,
Interesting…I was wondering if any of my Wholesome Sweeteners would work 🙂 I have their Organic Can Sugar and Raw Organic Cane Sugar among others 🙂

@Jennifer, For the first batches, I’d stick to the sugars and then move on from their. From my research, some sweeteners some aren’t as successful.
