Wishing all the awesome father’s a wonderful Father’s Day. It’s not just once a year, I need to let my dad know year-round how much he is appreciated, and I do exactly that.
My father was diagnosed with arthritis last year, and so this year, he’s moving a lot slower, which is tough to see. I’m used to seeing him be so active. After much coaxing and prodding, I’ve finally got him to get physical therapy. I made all the arrangements. He has treatment not too far from their house, and it’s an hour long. He’ll have therapy twice weekly. I know that will help him a lot, and he’s starting to do the exercise again, something that had almost come to a standstill last year. He didn’t gain any weight; he’s still trim; however, the lack of motion wasn’t doing his arthritis any favors. Both I, my brother, my mom are happy that he’s finally agreed to therapy.

A few exciting things have happened in the past few weeks that I have to keep quiet for a bit, not only on my little quiet corner of the internet, for the most part, I have to keep quiet about it with people I know. So here’s hoping that I can make the big reveal soon.
Arthritis can be very debilitating. My grandmother had it very bad. I hope that the therapy is very successful for your father. We just got back from a week and a half in Colorado. It was fun, but I was in pain for much of it. I wasn’t watching where I was going and accidentally stepped off of the curb bordering the sidewalk we were walking on. I fell and knocked Karen down. She had some bumps and bruises while I had scratches and scrapes and, unfortunately, bruised ribs. It’s the second time I’ve bruised my ribs and it takes quite a while for the pain to go away. The most exciting thing for us is that, while we were away, our daughter told us that they were thinking of moving back to Arkansas. Then a few days later they made it official by making an offer on a house up in northwest Arkansas. They’ll be just 2 hours away which is a lot better than what it is where they live now in the LA area or before that when they lived in Wisconsin. We are excited about having them back soon, including our granddaughter who just graduated from high school. (Our grandson and his bride live about 4 hours away at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where he is stationed.
Thanks! It has been successful. Dad is already doing more than he has in months. I was hoping getting physical therapy would be the kickstart he needed to go back to his old routine, and thus far it’s been successful. I’m very happy.
Ouch. I hope you and Karen make a full recovery. That will be great to be so close to family. What an awesome gift to have them so close. My brother is 1.5 hours away, and we visit each other often. In a few years, he’ll have to move again with work. He’ll be at headquarters, which is located in Wisconsin.
