December 1: Time flies… when you’re busy!

Wow, has it been super busy for me. I blink… and it’s December. I still have so much to do before my daughter is out of school for the Christmas holidays. We have treat bags to make and I have a few items to knit and sew and also some soap that needs to be made. Sighs… I cannot complain. I do make time to smell the roses, regardless of how busy I am.

Man smoking pipe

This is the first time I’ve been on a computer in almost a week and it shows, since it’s the only time I write my blog posts. While I have written blog posts on my iPad, I really don’t like it that much and so I still do the bulk of my posting on an actual computer.

Handcrafted card

A few weeks ago, I made this card for my cousin. Like me, she’s a Christian and so I added some Christian sentiments to her card. I’ve used this stamp once before and I thought it would be nice to use it again for her. I also made a matching envelope and included a few home made lip balms in her note. My goodness it took me a while to mail that out, but I finally did.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving. While I was hoping my brother, sister in law and nephew would be joining us this year. They will still be in Florida. The good news is, they might be moving much closer as in three hours away! I’m praying, if it’s the Lords will, that will happen. My BF is joining my family (parents, daughter and me) for Thanksgiving. This will be our first Thanksgiving together.

Gete-Okosomin: Cool Old Squash

I thought this was fascinating. This squash was rediscovered a few years ago. The seeds were found in a clay jar. The seeds was dated to be around 800 years old.

In other news…

It’s been so busy around these parts. I’m happy to say that the BFs scarf is almost finished. Guess what? He’s joining my parents, my daughter and me for Thanksgiving tomorrow! I cannot wait to see him. It seems like it’s been forever; however, I saw him last Saturday.

Fun with knitting

The past week or so, I’ve been knitting a scarf for the BF. I made him a matching hat, which I gifted to him on his birthday. He loves that hat!

I’m at the halfway point and probably have already worked on this for about thirty hours. As you can see, I have a helper. Bella, decided to supervise. Perhaps she was checking to see if I had dropped stitches?

Crafty Adventures: Adventures in sewing cloth dolls

My daughter has been asking if she could sew a cloth doll. My response was sure. I love sewing and it’s another excuse for us to bond doing something we both enjoy, sewing. Unfortunately, I seem to have everything but the fabric needed for the dolls skin tone so that means a trip to a local fabric store, most likely Jo Ann Fabrics.

While there are several free patterns available online for making your own cloth dolls. I believe I’ll draft my own pattern so my daughter can sew. Or, if I’m feeling really lazy, I’ll just purchase a pattern when we’re at the fabric store.
