Jurassic World here we come!

Do you realize that I had not clue they were making another Jurassic movie or that it was already out in theaters, until a few days ago. Sighs… well I rarely watch TV, so that’s my excuse.

I loved most of the Jurassic Park movies. The first is still the one that I enjoy the most.

The BF and I are planning to take my daughter to see this movie either tonight or sometime tomorrow. She did not seem as thrilled about it, until I reminded her of Jurassic Park and some of the scenes from that movie, then her response was… “Oh yeah, that was really good!” Do you know something, I just got around to viewing the above trailer.

More knitted washcloths; more rave reviews…

Last week, I finally got around to gifting the BF with six more of the knitted washcloths that I had made. At the time, I had asked him to take pictures of the of the knitted washcloths and yesterday he remembered, took the pictures and sent them to me.

I love knitting washcloths. It’s a portable project that can follow me almost anywhere.

I don’t know if you can tell, but in the above picture he tried to arrange the knitted washcloths in a heart formation. Wasn’t that sweet?  The accompanying text, that he sent with the pictures said… “to my heart of hearts.” Granted, at the time, I did not make the connection, until he asked did I see he’d arranged the washcloths into a heart formation? After he pointed that out… I saw it (sort of) and thought it was super sweet.

Hand knit washcloths. They are super absorbent!

This morning, he finally tried out one of the above knitted washcloths. I’d been asking him since I gifted them to him to try them. He’s been using the knitted washcloths that he already has; however, since this is a different brand of cotton (and a bit softer than the first brand) I wanted to see if it was just as absorbent and if it produced the same amount of lather.

The results? On his way to work, he called me and told me that these washcloths are awesome too! Score! I have a few more washcloths to make before his set is complete and then… I’m calling it “done” for him.

I’m still trying to think of what to do for his parents. We really enjoyed visiting them. I’m unsure if I should make them knitted washcloths, or something else? We’ll see…

Movie: Old Fashioned

Check out the clip below…

I must say that I’m thrilled that this DVD movie is being released today. I follow Old Fashioned on Facebook and immediately pounced on the pre-order when it was available. Checking Amazon, I should be receiving the movie today the day it’s being released. Hooray. I really want to watch the movie TODAY; however, I will wait until this weekend when I can watch the movie with the BF.

You want to know something? I normally don’t watch romance movies; however, this one does appeal to me since it focuses on a couple, who are taking their time within their relationship and they are going about the process in an old fashioned way.

One busy weekend

As I mentioned, in an earlier post,  my daughter, BF and were planning to spend the weekend with his parents in Delaware. We did! They live in Bridgeville, Delaware. It’s about two hours from where I live in Maryland. I must say that we all had a wonderful time. My daughter and I really enjoyed getting to know his parents a bit more. We’d met them on Easter and I’ve been communicating with them via email.

They live in a 55 and older community. I must say I was blown away by the amenities that are located within the community. There’s a few restaurants, community pool, library, gym and many other things that escape my mind at the moment. The houses are huge.

Time at the pool

Late Saturday morning, you could find all of us by the pool. Since it was early, we had the place to ourselves, which was perfectly fine with us and much appreciated by my daughter since she spent most of the time within the pool. We stayed for around three hours and afterwards washed and went to lunch.

ocean-city-maryland

Saturday evening, the BF suggested we go to Ocean City.  It’s the first time my daughter or I have been there. I personally would have been content to stay at his parents house. It was the weekend and I knew it was going to be crowded. However, the BF was determined to go since my daughter had never been and he wanted her to experience the overwhelming feeling of just being there and I agreed with him. After all… this evening was not about me, it was about my daughter and I did have a great time. My daughter loved it and is looking forward to going back some time soon. I will say that it took us a long time to drive down to the boardwalk. Oh my goodness! it was bumper to bumper traffic! Ocean City is about an hour away from where his parents live in Delaware; however, we got off at around the 61st street? From there on down to the boardwalk was a crawl and so… it took us almost two hours to go forty blocks! Screams…

Fun with a jigsaw puzzle

During our down time, my daughter, the BFs mom and me attempted to put together a puzzle. I must say we made a nice dent in the puzzle before we left on Sunday. It’s my only regret that we did not take a picture of what we’d accomplished. All the same, we had a great time fitting the puzzle pieces together, talking and laughing. When done with others, piecing a puzzle is a wonderful social activity.

On Sunday, we went to the BFs parents Catholic Church. I must say that I really enjoyed the entire service and look forward to attending again when we pay them another visit.

Of course, we took plenty of pictures while we were away for the weekend, and I’ll be sure to post some of them here on I’m Celebrating Life, very soon.

Bella!

Our newest furbaby is Bella. We’ve had her since March? She’s a Bichon Frise/Poodle mix… a BichPoo. I think I mentioned we received her from my brother and his family. My nickname for her is Bells a Bub… get it, Beelzebub?

In many ways she reminds me of Lalita, my Maltese; however, she has much more energy! Which is hard to believe and she’s extremely intelligent. I did not think any of my dogs could surpass Lalita in those two areas, but Bella has.

Last evening, my daughter made this cute caption and sent it to me. It made me laugh!

And even though she is super duper intelligent, Bella is one willful doggie and has absolutely refused to go potty outside, until recently and within a matter of days, she’s been using the bathroom exclusively outside. In a later post, I’ll be sure to write about what we did to get her to go outside.

God’s Not Dead – Newsboys

A few weeks ago, the BF and I saw the movie God’s Not Dead. We watched it at his home. It was a nice low key date. We both love those. We also really enjoyed watching the movie. In fact, a few days later my daughter and I watched the movie and she loved it!

Take a look at the above clip. It’s just a small sampling of what you see throughout the movie. I enjoyed it immensely.

Imagine my surprise when I saw the Newsboys make an appearance in the movie. I told the BF that I’d attended the same university as Mike Tate, one of the band members.

Back then, he was a member of DC Talk. And so began my trip down memory lane as I told him stories of DC Talk, how I met them (Black Student Fellowship) and my interaction after that time. We both really loved this movie and it made us reflect on our own Christian walk and how it appears to others.

God tells us not to hide our light under a bushel (Matthew 5:15) but to expose it so it brings light to all within the house. Armed with this knowledge, I do my best to show by my daily walk that God is not Dead in my life and I’m not ashamed to share my testimony with the world. After all, God does tell us to go into the world and preach the gospel (Mark 16:15). You know something… that ‘world’ can be right outside our doorstep.

The human part of me, might say that it’s something I don’t have to do, share my religious beliefs with others… It’s interesting that people will say this, but not think anything about sharing their other interests with others. However, Gods word tells me a different story. Guess, who I’ll follow? It won’t be man…

A whole lot of Wii, cooking and knitting…

Could the weekend have flown by any faster?

We did make it to the Boumi Carnival on Saturday and my daughter and I had a lot of fun. I even introduced her to funnel cake. She had it when she was very young, but does not remember it at all. She really liked the “cake.” Admittedly, it’s not the healthiest snack out there since it’s cake dough deep fried and then sprinkled with powdered sugar. 🙂

The fun did not stop there, shortly afterwards we headed up to the BFs house. He lives in a four bedroom home. My daughter and I have our own rooms for the times we do something late and I don’t feel like driving home. Since I was already wiped out from doing chores around the home, that’s exactly what we did. The room that I’ve claimed is right next to my daughters. At times, she’ll pop by in the wee hours of the morning to chat.

The evening was spent hanging together being silly and playing games on the BFs Wii. I am happy to say that I kicked both of their behinds in bowling, although when we swapped to 100 pins I did not do as well. I thought I came in last place, but my daughter said I came in second.

Of course, there was plenty of food available all prepared by me. I can’t complain since I do I love cooking. Yesterday, before we returned home, I made a lot of food so the only thing he has to do is heat and prepare throughout the week. What did I make?

Let’s see…

  • Plain garbanzo beans to be added to different dishes
  • Chick pea stir fry
  • Eggrolls (vegan and chicken)
  • Turkey burgers

With all the rush, I completely forgot to take photos of what I prepared… and since we were visiting the BF, it’s not like today I can snap a picture of what I prepared. Whoops! However, when talking to him last evening, he did tell me that he would take a few pictures for me. I only hope he does before he starts eating the food. Heh! 😉

Of course… the forgetfulness didn’t stop with the food pictures! Sighs

The past week or so, I’ve been knitting washcloths. Last weekend, I gave him one and since he raved about it so much, I decided to make him some more. And what’s not too love about a knitted washcloth or dishtowel? They’re awesome, super absorbent cloths.

Homero-Doh-

By Saturday, I had already knitted five washcloths for him and I was prepared to give them to him during our visit; however, I left the washcloths home in my knitting bag. D’Oh!  Oh well… I might see him during the week and I’ll gift him with the knitted washcloths at that time.

This weekend, we’ll be visiting his parents in Delaware. I’m already trying to decide what fresh produce (from the garden) that I’ll gift them with. I’ll have to ask the BF what they like.
