Electrotherapy update

It’s been a little over a week since I received the New Spa High Frequency D’arsonval Professional Grade Device with Argon Electrodes. Earlier this morning, my daughter snapped photos of my freshly washed skin.

Right side of my face – dark spot is almost gone

I wasn’t expecting to see anything this early, but there does seem to be some skin tightening around my cheekbones. Also, the dark spots, caused by hyper-pigmentation is definitely starting to peel. This is the right side of my face. I had a few spots, right near the cheekbone, but that’s almost gone.

My left side of my face, is the side that has the darkest spot, right at the cheekbone. Over time, I’ll be curious to see what electrotherapy does to the dark area. It has gotten lighter.

I got out of the habit of using Hyaluronic Acid Serum on my skin, but I’m forcing myself to get back into that routine since it adds so much moisture to the skin.
I don’t think it’s solely electrotherapy that’s causing the impressive results. I believe it’s a combination of everything I’m doing.

  • Facials
  • Clay Mask
  • Natural oils loaded with nutrients
  • Electrotherapy
  • Clairsonic Mia 2

Since I eat extremely healthy, the only thing left was stepping up my game with my facial care routine.

This is hard for me, since I’m not one to look in the mirror and now I’m doing it for my twice daily facials. 😉

My daughter has told me my skin is looking brighter. Trust me, my daughter does not say things just to make me feel good. In that way, she’s a lot like me. She’s honest. 😉

Home made by me: Burgers, burritos and eggrolls

Christmas is right around the corner and so I’ll be stepping away and disconnecting from most things related to technology. However, I do have advanced posts lined up, so even though I’ll be away, It’ll still look like I’m here since I have written posts and have scheduled them to be published at a later date.

The next few days I’ll be making my own home made foods to freeze and bring out at a later date, so I (or my daughter) can quickly heat and prepare meals when I’m too busy.

Vegan Lentil Burgers_4
Recycled post – Homemade Vegan Lentil Burgers

The above burgers were made a few years ago. It was a lentil burger that I’d made. I had some leftover lentil beans and decided to make them into a burger. That was a tasty experiment. In the late 1990s, I had an amazing veggie burger that had sunflowers. It was made by a local restaurant and if I remember, the burgers were freshly made, so there was none of the prepacked fake crap. Perhaps, I’ll make some type of burger with sunflower seeds? We’ll see…

She’s also a fan of Latin/Caribbean and Asian foods so I’ll be making my own burritos, tacos and eggrolls

and perhaps something Trinidadian or Ethiopian in nature. We love those foods also.

Although they are all homemade, I would consider these “processed foods” since I’m preparing them in advance, but they are miles ahead of the processed stuff you will find in the stores. Why? The above foods are still home made, they are just being made by me in advance. Since they are all made by me using whole foods ingredients only, they’re much different than what you would buy from the store. The ingredients are made from produce that I’ve either purchased, or have been picked from our garden, and the food is much fresher than the store bought variety.

I must say, that I’m actually looking forward to preparing my homemade quick meals in bulk. Once prepared most will be packaged and put into the freezer, to be pulled out when I’m too busy to prepare a meal. This way, even though we’ll have “quick meals,” they’ll still be a healthy option since they’re homemade and prepared (with minimal processing) by me.

When it comes to eating properly, I’m fortunate where I do have choices and because that I do have options I choose to make healthy choices. Of course, that means at times I have to make an effort to keep making smart choices, but since I’m invested in my health, I’m willing to jump through extra hoops to maintain those goals.

Hibiscus, cinnamon and clove spice tea…

This morning I brewed a big pot of one of my favorites. Hibiscus flower, cinnamon and cloves. Nothing ground here, everything was whole and tossed into my stainless steel pot. I let simmer for about an hour before taking it off the wood stove. I have plenty of this brew to keep me happy for at least a few days.

Not only is is tasty, but it’s loaded with nutrients. Hibiscus Flowers has a large amount of vitamin C, cloves improves digestion, and cinnamon is helpful for fungal infection. I only included one benefit for each of the items listed, they are chock full of nutrients.

I do find that consuming healthful foods I am rarely sick. Imagine that, what we consume can actually help us fight off infection!

Beef and Ground Pork burgers

Ham_pork Burgers.12.15.14These are the burgers I mentioned yesterday. I added hard cheddar cheese to some of the burgers, since my daughter likes cheese. I made enough burgers too freeze and set aside for when I’m to busy to cook. This way, the only thing I have to do is heat up the food and serve to my daughter.

My daughter loved these burgers because they were super moist and flavorful… and they were loaded with finely chopped vegetables.

Adding the veggies, is definitely a much healthier choice than just making a burger with plain old ground meat. This would be a great alternative, for someone looking to add vegetables into their daily diet, without giving up the meat. The toppings, for this burger were more veggies; finely grated carrots, onion, mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach. Occasionally, my daughter, will add pureed avocado as a spread. It’s a much healthier alternative to mayonnaise, and since it’s lightly seasoned with freshly ground herbs and spices, it enhances its flavor.

Kitchen Adventures: Breakfast for lunch

Earlier this week, I made this meal, for my daughter’s breakfast. She loves a hot breakfast and most mornings I prepare one for her.

My daughter loved her breakfast so much, that she requested it for lunch at school. Sometimes, she likes eating breakfast for lunch.

In the far upper left hand corner,  you’ll see the omelet that I’d made, along side it to the right are the homemade sausages. In the first row are the home made hash browns and to the right is an assortment of snacks; homemade chocolate chip cookies, grapes and store bought pretzel rods. What did she have to drink? A hibiscus water kefir soda that I’d made. It’s super fizzy and so much better than your carbonated sodas. After my daughter returned home from school, I asked my daughter how she liked her lunch. She smiled and said, “It was very good mom, thanks!”

I enjoy making home cooked meals for my daughter to eat and since she uses her insulated Zojirushi lunch jar, even when she’s away for hours at school, her food stays warm until lunchtime.

Whole Foods: Peeking into my Natural Pantry

Curious as to what’s lurking in my kitchen cabinets? Well I’ve opened one so you can see.

Natural Cabinent.10.24.14
My whole food pantry

This is what you’ll see in my cabinents, whole food goodness. I purchase my spices, herbs, roots, leaves, etc., in bulk and it’s whole form. In doing so I increase the freshness of the various items and the nutrition content is much higher.

I’m also big on recycling, many of these items you see above were taken from their bags and transferred to glass containers. That had originally been used for something else. Some of these recycled items I purchased myself and others jars/containers were given to me.

Burning incense – wonderful fly repellent

This fall, I’ve seen an alarming number of flies in the house. The house stays clean but these flies are stubborn, they are determined to set up camp for the cooler months. We’ve chased them down and eliminated most, but still some manage to maintain a foothold. They’re taunting me!

Seeing flies buzzing about our home is something new. We haven’t had this issue in the past! Ughh! So… what could be causing the problem? Hmm… I racked my brain trying to think of what we were doing differently, and it finally dawned on me…  that I hadn’t burned incense in quite some time! From my readings, flies and mosquitoes don’t seem to tolerate smoke too well. Score! Additionally, I like the aroma given off by my preferred incense so for me, this is the perfect way to drive the remaining pests from the home. Of course, I can’t find my incense anywhere. It’s entirely possible that I’ve used it all. I purchased some more.

Naturally, you need an incense holder too. I had several, but when they did work on the house I tucked them away and it’s quite possible they were given away since I did donate some of those items to various charity organizations. Oh well, I purchased the above incense holder, isn’t it lovely? In total, the price to drive these annoying pests out of the home has cost me a little over $23, and I purchased enough incense to last for quite some time.
