Adventures in Cleansing: What types of enema should I purchase?

Another great video by April Goodwin on the type of enemas to use.

The type of enema I use is a 4 qt. enema bag. I mainly chose this style because it’s extremely portable.  I can easily fold it up and tuck it away for the next use.  After an enema, it’s sterilized and tucked away until the next time it’s needed.

The store bought solutions are something you should avoid. Here in the United States it’s typically the Fleet type enemas. Not only are they (usually) chemical based they don’t hold a lot of solution.  As Lori mentioned you can find the enema bag at Walgreens, Wal Mart, Target and a variety of other stores. I purchased my enema bag from Amazon, because of it’s size (4qt.) you don’t typically see these in your regular department stores. Knowing this I took my search online so I could purchase something larger than 2qt.  I don’t always use 4 qts with my enemas, but it’s there if I do want to make a larger enema solution.

I guess one slight annoyance for myself, is that some people assume that those who use enemas do it for sexual reasons and that’s not the case with me or many others that use them.  But that’s not something I dwell on, you know? Enemas are something that I was introduced to as a young child. Seeing the  amazing benefits, from a health standpoint, naturally I kept using them as an adult.

More recently, I saw the amazing benefits that enemas had with candida overgrowth. I was thrilled with how successful it was in that area. Not only is it used for people like myself who just need it for general maintenance or one of my  occasional flare-ups (candida), some people battling serious diseases like cancer, have successfully healed themselves by using ‘Gerson Therapy’ which involved daily enemas and other treatments to heal themselves of cancer.

Bonding time: Last day before school

Well today is the last day of my daughter’s summer vacation. I’ll definitely miss just picking up and doing whatever we wanted after work was finished. Now that she’s back in school, she’ll be on a schedule. With her, she’s still learning on her summer breaks, since I give her interesting projects to do while she’s away from school. And while she views the projects as ‘fun and exciting’ they are also educational also.  Currently her favorite subjects are Writing, Science and Math. Although she does well in all subjects, made honor roll each quarter, the subjects I mentioned are the ones she likes the most.

Today, we did what she wanted to do…

So we played with all the furbabies and then we played with her Monster High dolls…

Of course this meant making homemade vegetarian pizza, complete with a freshly made pizza crust. The tomatoes came from our garden and I made sure I added ‘extra cheese’ just the way she likes her pizzas to be. We both took lots of pictures of the pizza making process, so we’ll be sure to upload and post pictures soon.

Then we got on Skype and chatted with her cousin (my nephew.) Since it was pretty much their conversation with me chiming in when ‘mom’ or ‘aunty Opal’ was called, I responded to email, tossed a few tidbits up on Facebook, and played a bit of World of Warcraft. 😉

All too soon her day had ended and after the daily Bible reading, I found myself reading several pages from R.L. Stine’s Goosebump series.

We had a great time making food and just hanging out together and now the day is over.

Furbaby adventures: Giving Gracie, our lionhead rabbit, her medication

A few days ago… I took this picture of Gracie. Which would explain why she has stitches in the picture below. This morning, her stitches were removed.

As you can see, Gracie really doesn’t mind taking this medication. I’m guessing it tastes great. Yesterday, marked the last day that she has to take this medicine. She has two more (out of the four original medications) to take. Tomorrow is the last day for the nasty medication she doesn’t like, and Monday, she’ll receive her last penicillin shot.

I must say she’s been a great patient and hasn’t even flinched at taking the needle.

Furbaby adventures: Stitches removed and female rabbit bonding

Gracie got her stitches removed today! Isn’t that wonderful?

We arrived at Chadwell’s Animal Hospital at 8:00 a.m. That’s the time they opened. We were the second customer there. Both of us waited for a bit. The first customer had a very distraught kitty and then there was our Gracie who seemed fine.

About twenty minutes later we were seen and off Gracie went to get her stitches removed. Upon her return, about five minutes later, the vet technician confirmed what we already knew… she’s healing nicely from her laceration surgery! The tech that removed the stitches reminded us not to pull on the scab that was remaining. Well… that’s obviously not the thing to do, but I understand that they do have to state the obvious to protect themselves.  So I just smiled and told her that wasn’t going to happen.

Female rabbit bonding

After the rabbit gone wild fiasco aka rabbit bonding gone bad, I didn’t think I’d try to reintroduce bonding to them this early, but a few hours after we arrived home, we decided to put the rabbits close to each other.

And even though  some advise to do this  after both are spayed, I decided to check it out. Oreo, our spayed bunny, is the aggressive one but as she’s come out of her shell, her antisocial tendencies (occasional growling and bunny swatting with her paws) has disappeared. So, I put them together to see what would happen. They were about two feet away from each other and they did fine. I was holding Oreo and my daughter held Gracie.

While we didn’t get pictures of that interaction, we did take pictures a few moments ago. This time they were touching and they did fine! We were petting them both the entire time. Well my daughter stopped to take the pictures. I still don’t trust them down on the floor together. But we’re in no rush…

But it’s nice that we can (hopefully) have them both out (as long as we’re holding them) together! We’ll take baby steps with these two,  but since they are doing fine, we’ll keep having sessions like this and have floor sessions after Gracie has been spayed. She’ll be spayed this October.

Cleansing update: Garlic enemas

A few months ago, I stumbled upon this video about garlic enemas which I thought fit perfectly for my cleansing routine.

I really liked Lori Goodwin’s video and her positive upbeat personality (along with her knowledge about a variety of topics that interest me)  had me watching more on enemas that she uses at home and her clinic. She also talks about other natural healing topics.

I liked the name of her site I Keep Smiling, what a positive statement, right? I could identify with this message, since I always smile too. It sure beats frowning. The positive message reminds me of my own sites name, Celebrate Life.

But back to garlic enemas…

I remember specifically searching for information about garlic enemas since I know the amazing benefits it has; antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal… knowing the positive effects I’ve had consuming it raw, I was curious to see what people’s experiences with garlic enemas. I use a 4qt. enema bag, it looks a lot like the one featured above, except mine is blue and it also has a metal hook (instead of plastic) to hang the bag.

I get a bit graphic about the effects of the enema after the break, so only click on Get the Whole Story, if you want to read about that.

Family: Hanging out with my daughter

The first time I heard Cat’s in the Cradle, I was in my late teens or early twenties, and although it would be many years before I had a child of my own I made a mental note to pay attention to the message within the lyrics.

It’s important to make time for those you care about… Now as a mom, I can proudly say that I do make time for my daughter but if you think about it, this isn’t just a message for parents. This message can be applied to everyone who has loved ones. Quit taking them for granted. Tell them how important they are, and quit putting off spending time with them. Make the effort and just make that time!

It wasn’t until years later that I learned that Harry Chapin died in a car accident on July 16, 1981. I must say that I hoped that his song was purely a reminder of what would happen if he didn’t spend time with his own children. I do find it interesting that most of the musicians that I would love to see in concert; Harry Chapin, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Mahalia Jackson, Louis Armstrong, Eubie Blake, etc., are no longer with us.

This weekend, my daughter wants to go to the mall. Can I just say I dislike malls… but since it’s something she likes I’ll take her and enjoy the time that we spend… together. 🙂

Cooking adventures; Spicy stir fried broccoli with a tangy cream sauce

Early this morning I made a spicy broccoli dish. As with many of my dishes, they start out as one thing but turn into something else.

This was a dish that was just going to be stir fry broccoli, but as I was adding the ingredients together, I thought it might be nice to add a roux. The broccoli didn’t come from our garden, it was fairly fresh since I purchased them from our local produce store.

I ground up herbs and spices in my granite mortar and pestle and tossed that into the roux.

After the roux was thoroughly blended I  added it to the skillet. It smelled lovely and tasted even better. I had a small portion. But, even though I liked it, I thought it would be much better if I introduced something sweet. Perhaps I’ll add a bit of sweet potato and some pineapple juice to the sauce to pair with the spiciness?

I had no time to do that this morning, but it’s an easy fix that I”ll take care of sometime this afternoon.

This meal is perfect served alone, or perhaps with a side order of brown rice or served over zucchini pasta!
