Yeah, my crocheted slipper project is almost complete, a few more tweaks and these will be given to my father.
These slippers were created from leftover yarn. I’m thinking about adding some ‘manly tassels’ to the slippers, before I give them to my father.
The crocheted slippers are easy enough for a beginner to make, and took about two hours to complete. Adding the tassels will only take a few moments.
I originally made a pair of crocheted slippers for my mother. My dad saw them, and requested a pair for himself. That was about a week ago. The result, they will now have matching crocheted slippers. Since her crocheted slippers were made with the same yarn… I’m not too fond of the color scheme (I was getting rid of leftover yarn, remember) my mom loves them. By the way, my mother wears hers daily.
Edited to add: I used a size P crochet hook, so that helped speed up the slipper creation. I used a size N hook, to create my mothers slippers; hers took about three hours. The crochet hooks I use are made by Boye.
Another Work in Progress is my Amigurumi Aminkeo project. The pattern can be found in the book Hello my name is Amineko: The Story of a Crafty Crochet Cat. My first dozen crocheted eggs were completed, and a crocheted bag I made for one of my daughter’s Monster High dolls; Clawdeen Wolf.
Work in Progress Wednesday Linkage
Oh, I wish I had the time to make some crocheted slippers! My floor tiles are cold and I really dislike the slippers you can buy in the stores. They are just so boring. I watched your video tutorial, my inner voice sreamed: slow motion please! 😀

@Julie, The good thing is the slippers don’t take too long to crochet, I usually crochet in my downtime. I started those last evening, worked on them for about an hour, and finished them today, I used large crochet hooks, size P so they worked up quickly. The ones I made for my mother I used a size N crochet hook. Yep, she does go at a fast pace in the video. If some of the stitches are new to you, check out YouTube user Crochet, in her videos, there’s a section that is done in slow motion.
I’m always so impressed when crocheters can turn out a cool project in a couple of hours. Nice slippers! Looking forward to seeing your kitty come together, too!

@Paula @ KnitandSeek, Agreed, it’s one thing I do like over knitting, some of my projects are completed faster. Then there are others… like the Yo-Yo afghan I’m crocheting. Drat, I should have included that in my Work in Progress!
Those slippers look great, really warm and snuggly and bright, too. I think tassels would be a great addition.
And yay for Amineko! I made one for Christmas, what a fun and well-designed pattern it is.

Thanks @Kathleen, I gave them to my dad and he loves them.
Oh, nice! Amineko was supposed to be finished a while ago, but I got distracted by other crochet projects, heh.

LOVE these colors for the slippers – also LOVE the orange! It’s one of my fave shades of orange! Great projects!~

Thanks @Jennifer,
I guess I’m the odd one, I don’t like them as much. Then again I’ve crochted a lot of things using these two colors, so I am at the point where I don’t want to see the colors for a while, lol.
Your kitty is looking pretty cute! And, those slippers looks super cozy!

Thanks @Michelle,
My daughter has been asking me to complete the kitty for a while, and so I promised it would be complete this week while she’s out of school.
Yep, the slippers look comfy. I still haven’t crocheted anything for myself (yet) top busy making things for others, lol.

Can’t wait to see the cat!
@erin kate, My daughter has been clamoring for ‘her kitty’.

Those slippers look super comfy; the tutorial is worth a try for this beginner. Thanks for the tutorial and also for dropping by my e-spot today. 🙂
Hi @Nicky, You should definitely try making them, I made the first pair for my daughter, about a month after I started crocheting.
I enjoyed my visit, and will be returning. 🙂

It’s hot here so we do not wear slippers in the house or bedroom…but I think that cat’s going to be very cute. Can’t wait to see it when it’s done.
@suituapui, Well, there goes that idea… I was going to message you for your postal address since eventually, I thought about sending you slippers (in a much tamer color; of course) and a few other items from Maryland, it’ll have to be something else. 😉

I need to start crocheting again… I have been a bit obsessed with sewing lately..
Here is what I worked on this week.. http://likemamalikedaughter.blogspot.com/2012/04/keep-calm-and-craft-on.html

@Hannah, I love sewing too, these days (when I’m not crocheting)I only seem to be making quilts, with my quilting group. I’ve had drawn a few sketches for outfits for my eight-year old daughter, eventually I’ll sew them.
I stopped by your virtual home. I love the ‘pillow case dresses’ that you made for your daughter, and her cousins. What a creative idea, and so adorable too.

Slippers are always on my list to make, but I haven’t done any. I would love to make some for my kids though! And I can’t wait to see your cat! I have a cat-obsessed kid and she would love something like that (and I’m sick of making Hello Kitty things too).

@heather, My daughter was in the Hello kitty stage (a few years ago). She’s cat-obsessed too.
Yes, slippers are really great; my father has been wearing his slippers daily.
Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

I wish I can create such crocheted slippers, but I don’t have such talent. They seem to be very warm, I like it

@Melissa, They aren’t as difficult to make as you might think. About a week ago I posted a crochet slipper video tutorial. It was created by one of my favorite Youtube users; Hectanooga. If you don’t know how to crochet, there’s also a great beginning crochet tutorial video. It’s definitely worth checking out, since the YouTube user Crochet does parts of the video in slow motion, which can be extremely helpful when learning new stitches. It’s how I learned a lot of crochet stitches, by following her video instructions.

Look at your cat laying there in pieces! Looks like you are nearly finished with all the parts! I made both of my heads first and put their ears, muzzle, eyes, and nose on. That made them seem alive to me, and I just could let them lay there without the rest of their appendages! Ha-ha. Whatever works, right? You will love him when he’s finished! Thanks for commenting!

Hello @Pammy Sue,
Initially, I was going to do that, but figured if I started with that, I might drag my feet upon completing the Amineko.
Looks as though I should have done that, since I started this a while ago. I’ve been so busy with other projects (mainly for my daughter) that this has taken a back seat. 😉
